2006 Alumni Weekend

Ill like to thank everyone for making a great Alumni weekend this past November 17 and 18. It was good to see everyone who was able to attend. Special thanks to Mike FlynnOBrien (02), creator of the website www.ricerugbyclub.com , Brendan Daly (97), Cary Kottler (03), and Doug Mraw (03) for their work with activities. The Friday night started off great with our alumni reunion party at Hans Bier Haus. There was a little confusion early in the night caused by a pub crawl. Overall were very pleased with Hans support of the current Rice team. We also introduced a new funding program called the Silver Owl Club. Joining the club will allow you to receive a very handsome tie (look above). More about the Silver Owl Club will be added soon.
On Saturday the alumni lined up and played the current team. Once again the alumni thumped the current students on a beautiful day. Former coach Ed Brown helped coach the alumni. There is not enough space to write all of the alumni players who contributed to the game. Refreshments were served at the game and immediately afterwards everyone migrated to the parking lot to the Rice Rugby post game social. More refreshments were served and alumni had the opportunity to purchase some handsome Rice Rugby tee-shirts. From here we watched the resurgent Rice Owl Football team win an exciting game.
